![]() ![]() Typically, your contour color is cooler in undertone to create the type of shadow you want for contouring. For contouring, you want to use a product that is about 1-2 shades darker than your skin tone. To highlight, you want to use a product that is about 1-2 shades lighter than your skin tone. With this I get a foundation look that mimics the way my skin is naturally colored and gives me a more harmonious coloring vs messing up my clothes (and using extra product) by bringing my foundation all the way down to my neck to get a match.ĭon’t let a too light highlight or improperly placed contour happen to you! Highlighting and Contouring for Dark Skin Basics: For example, in my foundation routine, I use Cover FX Total Cover Cream in N110 as my base shade which is a pretty good color match that gives me color harmony between my neck, face, and chest, but I’m still lighter in the perimeter of my face so I use Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Golden to highlight and then Cover FX Total Cover Cream in N120 (or sometimes P125 if I want a slightly warmer look) and Cover FX Mineral Powder Foundation in N120 (or P125 if I’m using the P125) to set it. This is where contouring can come into play. Sometimes when you use all one color, it hides that natural coloring we have and makes our foundation look like a mask. This unique coloring can make it harder to find great foundation options, but of course it’s not impossible. Or we might be a totally different shade on our necks than our faces and vice versa. The shades blend really well and you don’t get that muddy look that some contouring products can result in. The palette is long wearing and well pigmented. The palette is actually said to combine a mix of shades for warm and cool undertones but personally I feel it leans towards the cooler end of the spectrum. This is a powder formula palette and it combines a mix of highlight, contour and bronzing shades. However, often I find they are too orange toned for me and I don’t enjoy looking like a wotsit! In the past I have used bronzers to contour. ![]() I picked up this palette because I thought the tones looked like they’d be really complimentary to my skin tone. Revolution HD pro powder contour palette in fair medium Shades “ego” and “drama” are a bit more difficult for me to wear as I’m quite pale, however they are wearable as eyeshadows. They are so wearable and really compliment my skin tone. My favourite shades are “it girl” and “free”. They are well pigmented and the formula lasts all day. The shades apply so well and blend like a dream. You can find the following colours in the palette: Perfect for turning my dull skin into a picture of radiance. The Morphe blush palette is made up of 8 cool-toned shimmer, matte and satin blushes. I opted for the Morphe 8C cool pro blush palette and the Revolution HD pro powder contour palette in fair medium. Recently I opted to try out some blush and contour palettes that I thought would compliment my skin. I’ve been leaning towards buying more and more cool toned makeup. I tend to find that my skin suits pinks, blues and lilacs much more than orange or golden tones. Lately I’ve found myself drawn towards cooler toned makeup. ![]()
